Why Choose VoIP for your Home Phone
WaveDirect’s Residential Phone (VoIP) offers a reliable and affordable alternative to traditional home phone service. By using your internet connection, VoIP delivers clear voice quality and modern calling features without the higher costs or long-term commitments of legacy phone lines.
With unlimited Canada and U.S. calling* included, VoIP helps households avoid per-minute charges and unexpected fees, making monthly phone costs easier to manage. The service works well for everyday calling, keeping in touch with family, and supporting households that still rely on a dependable home phone.
VoIP also provides helpful features such as voicemail, call forwarding, and caller ID, helping you stay connected even when you’re away from home. WaveDirect’s VoIP delivers consistent call quality and dependable service you can rely on.
VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) phone service works differently than traditional landline telephone service. Because of this, 9-1-1 emergency calling has important limitations.
Please read the following carefully:
- VoIP 9-1-1 service is not the same as traditional landline 9-1-1.
- Your 9-1-1 call may be routed through a third-party emergency call centre instead of directly to your local emergency response centre.
- The emergency operator may not automatically receive your name, phone number, or exact physical location.
- You may be required to verbally provide your address and call-back number to the emergency operator.
- If you are unable to speak, emergency responders may be sent to the last address on file, which may be incorrect.
- You are responsible for keeping your emergency service address accurate and up to date at all times.
If you move your VoIP device or use the service from a different location, 9-1-1 service may not work correctly until your address is updated. - VoIP 9-1-1 service will not work during power failures, Internet outages, network congestion, or service interruptions.
- 9-1-1 service will not be available if your account is suspended or disconnected, including for non-payment.
- Call connection times for 9-1-1 may be longer than traditional phone services.
- You should always keep an alternative method of contacting emergency services available (such as a mobile phone).
- Business or multi-extension services may only register one main address and phone number for 9-1-1 purposes.
- VoIP 9-1-1 services are provided on a best-effort basis, and availability cannot be guaranteed.
